Privacy
Your photos never leave your device
This policy covers StudioDrop Go (iPhone and iPad), StudioDrop (Mac), and the website at getstudiodrop.com. Both apps carry the App Store privacy label Data Not Collected.
Your photos
Every photo you process is read, processed and written entirely on your own device, using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No image is uploaded, transmitted, copied to a server, cached remotely, or seen by anyone but you.
This isn't a promise about how we handle your data — it's a description of the architecture. There is no server to send anything to. The apps make no network connections at all, which is also why they work in aeroplane mode.
What the apps collect
Nothing. No analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, no account system, no third-party frameworks that phone home. The apps never ask for your name, email address or location.
Permissions the apps ask for, and why
- Photos access (iPhone / iPad). To read the photos you select and to write finished images into a "StudioDrop" album. Access is used only when you actively pick photos. Your originals are never modified or deleted.
- File access (Mac). To read the files or folders you drag in and to write results where you choose. Nothing outside what you point it at is ever read.
Both apps run in Apple's sandbox, which enforces all of the above at the operating-system level.
What is stored on your device
Only your preferences — chosen backdrop, aspect ratio and output location. That's held in the app's own sandbox and never transmitted. Deleting the app deletes it.
Purchases
Both apps are one-time purchases through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment and holds the customer relationship. I never see your payment details, your address or your email address. For what Apple does with that information, see Apple's privacy policy.
This website
getstudiodrop.com is a set of static files hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts. Two things worth naming honestly:
- Server logs. GitHub, as the host, records standard web-server information such as IP address and browser type when a page is requested. This is automatic and I don't have access to it in any identifiable form. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Visitor counts. If privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics are in use on this site, they record aggregate page views and referrers only — no cookies, no cross-site profiles, no personal data, nothing sold or shared.
The interactive backdrop picker on the home page runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
There is no mailing list and no signup form on this site. The only way to reach me is to email me directly, and if you do, I keep that email in my inbox so I can reply to you. I don't add you to anything, and I don't pass your address to anyone.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you. For the apps there is nothing to request, because none is held. If you've emailed me and would like that correspondence deleted, just ask and I'll action it promptly and confirm when it's done.
Children
These are business tools for adults and aren't directed at children. They collect no personal information from anyone of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes, the date below changes with it, and any change affecting what the apps do will also appear in the App Store release notes.
